Missouri State University

FY 2006
PROGRAMMED (3-5 YEARS)

CAMPUS RECREATION CENTER

This student-focused initiative proposes to create a beacon in the center of the campus core for students to participate in fitness activities, enjoy recreation opportunities on available courts, (and potentially, one or more pools), or just hang out socially with friends during extended hours of the day. The exact site for the Campus Recreation Center has not been finalized; however, the site shown is located on the existing outdoor basketball/tennis court area immediately west of Blair-Shannon, due to its central campus location in close proximity to residence halls, PSU and multiple shuttle routes, without eliminating needed parking spaces or depleting limited existing green space. Discussion regarding a student fee to underwrite necessary campus efforts for research, evaluation and potentially design and construction, will occur during the 2005-06 academic year.

UNIVERSITY COLLEGE HALL
Increased student entrance standards, brought about by selective admissions, have expanded classroom requirements for increasingly requested honors and required student success programs in the University College. Additionally, the University must provide new space to accommodate the demand for expanded student services in the important areas of counseling, testing, career services, cooperative education, international student services, multicultural affairs and retention support.

FACILITY REUTILITIZATION PROGRAM - PHASE II
In the second phase of FREUP, additional campus facilities will be partially renovated to accommodate academic and administrative requirements of departments scheduled to occupy these facilities to enhance their programmatic missions.

CARRINGTON HALL RENOVATION
Renovations in Carrington Hall will include reallocation and adjustments to internal spaces in order to better meet current and programmed future needs. Infrastructure upgrades will include HVAC, plumbing, fire suppression and electrical system improvements and window replacements.

FACILITIES REUTILIZATION PROGRAM - PHASE III
Phase III will complete the current FREUP plan. During this phase additional campus facilities will be transformed to accommodate academic and administrative requirements of the departments programmed to occupy these facilities to enhance their programmatic missions.

RESIDENCE HALL PARKING STRUCTURE
This parking structure, located along National Avenue, will provide needed parking spaces for residence hall students. The structure will feature accessible, safe, and secure parking for students living in the nearby residence halls. Additional visitor parking will also be a part of this new structure. This facility will be constructed using Parking Administration funds and bond monies.
